American Folk Art Automobile Weathervane, Circa 1920

Category:

Description

Silhouetted and pierced sheet copper, original gilt and verdigris patina, iron rod, 11 x 25 inches. There is an early in-use iron repair on one side at the juncture of the spindle and some color added to a small area on one side of the front wheel, otherwise in a fine state of preservation.

This one-of-a-kind handmade weathervane is distinguished by its faithful representation of a motor-car with intricate hand cut pierced detailing and by retaining a beautiful original patina.
