An Unusually Expressive Folk Portrait of a Young Woman.

Posed with her fluting, a type of accordion. Among the wonderful details of the well-appointed and colorful interior is a sandwich glass curtain tie-back supporting dramatic bright blue curtains. Painted by a New England unidentified limner this portrait is sophisticated in composition but wonderfully naive in execution, oil on canvas, circa 1840 14.75 x 14.5 inches.
