Hunter Weathervane, American, circa 1880-1900

Sheet iron, original painted decoration, tip of ring finger restored, 24 x 26 inches

This weathervane in the form of a hunter with rifle raised, wearing a cap and boots, has a wildly over scaled hand that gives a highly abstracted quality to its silhouette.
