Monumental Rooster on Arrow Weathervane, Probably Iowa, circa 1900

Description

Sheet iron, pine, original paint, rooster, 20 ½ x 20 inches, arrow 72 inches long.

This unique, one of a kind weathervane, with the rare inscribed date of manufacture, 1900, was made to adorn a blacksmith shop in Iowa. It has survived in a superb state of preservation by retaining its original painted surface.
