Rare and Important Train Conductor Whirligig. American, circa 1860-1880



White pine, carved, with original painted decoration, height 21 3/4 inches.

In a superb state of preservation. The figure has a wonderfully detailed face with large handle bar mustache, carved buttons on the coat, and delicately formed boots. The paddles are original.
