Superlative Miniature Federal Bow-Front Chest of Drawers in Rare Untouched Condition, North Shore of Massachusetts or New Hampshire, circa 1810.

Mahogany with mahogany and birch veneers,  and northeastern white pine secondary.

In a remarkable state  of original preservation, the chest retains a deep chocolate brown color and  dry original finish, the pilasters  retain original black-painted surface in imitation of ebony; all of the brass knobs and escutcheons are original with beautifully aged darkened patina;  height 13 5/8 inches, width of case 11 inches, depth of lower case 5 5/8 inches.

This little gem is a perfect miniature of a North Shore Massachusetts or New Hampshire  Sheraton  bow-front chest of drawers with upper gallery, exquisitely rendered with finely dovetailed drawers with applied contrasting birch cock-beading; the lower case with cookie-corners above ring and  twist-tuned pilasters continuing to turned legs.
